Character Sheet

First Sword Goddard Montcastle is a Purple Dragon sergeant in Eveningstar. He has an athletic build and wears a suit of gleaming plate armor and a helmet with a massive purple plume. His expression is stern and proud, with cold steel eyes and faint lines across his cheeks and brow. He was raised in a frontier farm east of Arabel by his father and three older sisters, but rather than inherit the family farm he enlisted in the Purple Dragons and is married with a son and daughter who wait for him in Suzail. He is adamant and unquestioning, and demands that others meet his exacting standards, and those of his righteous god Torm. Goddard seems to want nothing more than to be worthy of recognition by his (now deceased) father. Beyond his duties as a Purple Dragon, Goddard is a collector of old coins and military memorabilia from foreign and historic powers.

After his assignment to Eveningstar and his wife's decision not to bring the children there, he's devoted himself completely to his duties. As such, he takes upholding the law very seriously, and considers even small nagging threats to Eveningstar's stability to be of great concerns. One such threat is the mustering of orcs and goblinoids in the King's Forest and Stonelands, which are doubly disconcerting to Goddard as a veteran of the Goblin War. The only law he's sworn to uphold is the King's; whenever the laws of Reardon Cormaeril contradict Cormyr's (which is becoming more frequent), he always sides with his country. When Reardon raised an army to keep power in Eveningstar, Goddard joined with the Ebon League in overthrowing the tyrant.
