Lagduf, also known as "the Seer" for her gift of foresight, is a hobgoblin shaman of the Red Hand Tribe. She is tall and slender, with bright red skin and a wide mouth full of sharpened teeth.
Lagduf was betrothed to the hobgoblin commander Muzgash, brother of the warchief Uglúk, who was killed by the Ebon League while she was led by a prophetic dream to escape certain death at their hands. It was only a short time before Uglúk, enraged by Muzgash's death, came looking for Lagduf to discover who had killed his brother. Lagduf, citing a vision of her own death at Uglúk's hands, came to the Ebon League and offered them a deal: in exchange for their protection, she would help them save Eveningstar from a cataclysm which was poised to destroy it. They agreed, and Lagduf and her dire wolves Carcharoth and Nymeria went into hiding within the tomb beneath Pillar Rock in Eveningstar.
Prophesy and the Ebon League
Lagduf's visions frequently foretell the doom of the subjects, citing that the Ebon League could refute her prophesy and save Cormy, but would in the process invite their own destruction. She often speaks in riddle and rhyme, particularly this cryptic sonnet:
Maxwell like the eastern wind, his life as hollow as his grin;
Tarak born of wicked rite, has no purpose but his might.
Bolthor, warrior of the north, hides his shame to prove his worth;
James the sailor from the south, sharp of steel but dull of mouth.
Kilias the dwarf from underground, far from home he is found;
Immeral, wizard from the west, lost himself then found the rest.
Of the members of the Ebon League, two have abandoned the League under mysterious circumstances, and in the order they were named by Lagduf. If this trend holds true, it is the barbarian Bolthor who would next face judgment, possibly during his return to Rimespire amid the goblin invasion.
Lagduf's Good Liquor Sauce
Lagduf distills a hearty brew from pine cones and fermented goodberries, which she calls "good liquor sauce." It's essentially a potion of healing, but it's made in the back of a dirty old tomb and mixes well with grenadine and Thayan vodka.
