Character Sheet

Natali Sayareh Dresdtinn is a human wizard from Deadsnows. She is the granddaughter of the apothecary Morwenna Dresdtinn and was a student at the Lady's College in Silverymoon, where she owns a magic item boutique. Natali is known for her short temper and indecisiveness. She has formerly traveled with the Silver Company, and has been romantically linked to Thulsa Doomhammer, Eioli Tlabbar, and Evendur Moonbeam.

History

Natali was born in Silverymoon in 1349 DR to Gregor Dresdtinn and Kamilah Badawi. Gregor was the youngest son of Morwenna Dresdtinn, the apothecary in Deadsnows. He was determined to carry on the family trade and thus became an herbalist in the Gem of the North. Natali had an older brother named Markus, though they did not get along very well.

When Natali was ten years old, a group of black-caped men broke into her father's shop and issued a series of threats as she hid away. One of them took Natali's mother hostage and Gregor assured them he'd repay his debts in full as soon as he could, but none of them even acknowledged Gregor had debts to repay. When Markus came through the door, one of the men, reacting on instinct, fired a crossbow bolt into the youth's chest. Kamilah's screams became muffled by her own blood, escaping from the middle of her throat. Gregor attacked the apparent 'alpha' among the enforcers with a knife, only to be disarmed and gutted by a longsword. Natali looked on in horror, but was consumed with grief and began to sob aloud.

Natali would have died with her family, if not for a crate of potions ordered in secret by the Harpers. As the hooded men emancipated the girl from her hiding place, a half-elf bard named Evendur Moonbeam entered through the front door and, seeing the carnage, drew his rapier and combat ensued. When the dust finally settled, Gregor's shop was left in shambles and only Natali and an injured Evendur yet lived. Evendur and Natali moved quickly to remove the cadavers from view and swept many of the broken vials aside, and Evendur departed with the girl and his crate of potions in tow. Natali would never forget the symbol tattooed on the wrist of the man who killed her father: a glowing ebony staff over a disc of gold clutched by a black dragon—the symbol of the Zhentarim.

When Harper agents finally discerned the Dresdtinns had been killed because the Zhentarim discovered their secret dealings with Those Who Harp, Evendur was wracked with guilt and personally set out to find Natali's next of kin. When he learned of Morwenna Dresdtinn's existence, he and a begrudging Natali departed for the sleepy mountain town of Deadsnows. The journey was long and arduous, and through it all Natali grew to love Evendur amorously, though her feelings were never reciprocated—the half-elf thought of the girl as his younger sister.

When Natali and Evendur finally reached Deadsnows, she struggled to adjust to life in a small town. Worse still, when Evendur departed, she became bitter and longed to travel with him again, and grew to resent her parents for dying and leaving her in such a dour place. Eventually, as Natali aged, she grew close to her grandmother and respected her judgment and worldly expertise. In time, Natali had become a woman and wished to leave Deadsnows for the Lady's College in Silverymoon. Acceptance was exceptionally difficult to obtain, but she remained ever-hopeful and was admitted after only a month on the waiting list, a nearly unprecedented occurrence.

When she returned to the Gem of the North, Natali found that the Harpers had hurried her application through the bureaucratic process, and she was tearfully reunited with Evendur. During her half-decade in Silverymoon, the two would share variable levels of intimacy, experiencing cyclical periods of friendship, dalliance, and copulation.

Natali was a gifted pupil and found her schooling in the wizardly arts to come as naturally as they would a sorcerer. In exchange for her admission to the Lady's College, she cast spells and brewed potions for those Harpers who were in need of such services. Though as she matured Natali left her girlhood crush on Evendur behind, they remained close friends, and in 1374 DR she even arranged for his relocation to Deadsnows when approached by the Harpers.

When Natali too returned to Deadsnows, she found a young wizard, Thulsa Doomhammer, had been running a confidence game on her grandmother and she was infuriated. Natali chastised the wizard and ordered him never to speak to any of the Dresdtinns ever again. Later that day, however, she learned from Evendur that Thulsa and the Silver Company were working directly with the Harpers, and cooler heads prevailed. Though try as she might, she could not deny her attraction Thulsa and his cavalier attitude.

At a party devoted to the Silver Company and their new allies in the church of Eilistraee, Natali planned to spend her evening trying to understanding Thulsa and divine his true intentions, but the loremaster had other ideas, spiking her drink with an elixir of love. Whether willingly or not, she joined Thulsa and his new friend Eioli Tlabbar (who were both tripping on hallucinogenic drow mushrooms) in a ménage à trois.

When Thulsa left Deadsnows for Citadel Adbar, Natali was determined to follow and experience the thrill of life as an adventurer. She was present when the Silver Company cleared out the dungeon Khundrukar, and for their meeting with King Harbromm. When her grandmother died in 1374 DR, she sold the apothecary and retired from adventuring to Silverymoon to open her own magic item shop.
