Pipistrello Duncastle is the infant son of Sarissa Duncastle, appointed consul of the Moonwood tribe of the People of the Black Blood. His biological father is most likely Varek, the last true bloodmaster of the Moonwood People, which means he may also be a true lycanthrope and the prophesied savior of his tribe.
The great destiny of this child1 was the catalyst that allied the religious conservative and outcast moderate factions of the People of the Black Blood and ousted the ruling militant liberal faction, though this shaky alliance is also at risk. If this child is to be the next true bloodmaster, than deciding who will be responsible for educating him is a matter of some importance for the tribe and prestige for the tutor.
