Huntmaster Saernnus Quickleaf is a half-elf ranger, the house guide of the Whistling Stag inn, Quaervarr's premier hunting lodge and tavern. He is slender with a prominent jaw, with large gray eyes and the barest hint of facial hair. He's a master woodsman and a talented archer, skills inherited from his wood elf father. While he values peace and stability as much as anyone else, Saernnus' primary motivation for opposing the People of the Black Blood is to reduce the risk involved in his hunting parties (whose frequency has been notably declining) and to remove so unnatural a predator as lycanthropes to promote game conservation in the Moonwood. While half-elves are often noted for their friendliness, the state of affairs around Quaervarr has taken Saernnus to his limit, so he's easily frustrated and usually dour and terse in conversation. Nobody knows more about the creatures of the Moonwood, both mundane and monstrous, and Saernnus is the only known citizen of Quaervarr to have entered Claw Hollow and returned alive. Interactions with Saernnus are therefore short and informative, and in recent months he's rarely seen about town without a tankard of ale.
