Character Creation

Character Archetypes

A five-man crew should look something like this:

  • The Looks (Han Solo, Lando Calrissian, James T. Kirk, Malcolm Reynolds, etc.)
  • The Muscle (Chewbacca, Jayne Cobb, etc.)
  • The Brains (Princess Leia, every character in Star Trek, Zoe Washburne, etc.)
  • The Wildcard (R2-D2, Hoban "Wash" Washburne, etc.)
  • The Useless Bird (C-3PO, any character Boswald ever played)

Careers

The six careers (and their specializations) in Edge of the Empire are:

  • Bounty Hunter (Assassin, Gadgeteer, Survivalist, Martial Artist, Operator, Skip Tracer)
  • Colonist (Doctor, Politician, Scholar, Entrepreneur, Performer, Marshal)
  • Explorer (Fringer, Scout, Trader, Archaeologist, Big-Game Hunter, Driver)
  • Hired Gun (Bodyguard, Marauder, Mercenary Soldier, Enforcer, Demolitionist, Heavy)
  • Smuggler (Pilot, Scoundrel, Thief, Charmer, Gambler, Gunslinger)
  • Technician (Mechanic, Outlaw Tech, Slicer, Cyber Tech, Droid Tech, Modder)

Note: the careers from Age of Rebellion and Force and Destiny are also viable options for player characters, though they carry some additional storyline considerations.

Character Generators and Sheet Managers

There are a handful of good unofficial character generators. Of note are:

.NET Framework character generator (Windows only, without some work)

Cross-platform (but less-featured) character sheet manager

iPad (only) character sheet manager
