Danny Dowager (formerly Sergeant Daniel Dowager) is a street preacher and an Imperial deserter. Because of his exposure to corrupted Pantano eel bile and his need to hide from the Empire, he's traded in his Imperial officer's uniform for ragged black robes that were likely inspired by a particularly vivid hallucination.
Plot hooks
Seeing as the B-storyline has shifted completely toward awakening a slumbering eel god, Danny and others exposed to corrupted eels are still plagued with visions and headed toward a Sephiroth Reunion at the Temple of Darkness. They've organized in a downed starship near Miyagi's Landing and refer to themselves as "the Called".
Behind the scenes
I have a tendency to mark groups of nameless NPCs with letters ("Imperial Officer D") and then if they need names, use that same letter, usually with some alteration; Danny Dowager is no exception. I picked it because it sounds British, and the Dowager surname probably hints at his mother being a widowed noblewoman somewhere.
His new appearance is based on the robes of a Sith Lord, particularly Emperor Palpatine, but since his journey and clothes now parallel Final Fantasy VII's Sephiroth clones—who remember aren't really clones but people exposed to extraterrestrial DNA (localization is hard), an important distinction in a world with actual aliens and clones—and their Reunion, I'm going to lean on that pretty fucking heavily.
