The Pantano blockade was an orbital blockade of the planet Pantano by the Galactic Empire in 1 ABY.
The Pantano blockade trapping the Cantina Turner was the impetus for Episode LXIX.
Establishing the blockade
The blockade was initiated by Moff Sutherland and consisted of three Star Destroyers: the Centurion (command ship), the Cavalier, and the Crusader. It also included authorization for the establishment of a permanent garrison, Delta Base.
It is rumored that the purpose of the blockade was to set a trap Luke Skywalker, but there was never any evidence that Luke Skywalker set foot on Pantano. Supporting that theory, Moff Sutherland's son Inquisitor Sutherland and his capital ship the Black Prince arrived on Pantano, though never participated in the blockade.
Permanent occupation
As the orbital blockade proved valueless and the ground occupation was plagued with setbacks by eels, accidents, and sabotage (all of which were the crew of the Cantina Turner), Imperial leadership diverted from its primary objective to instead focus on establishing a permanent ground presence and conquering the lawless planet to the glory of the Empire.
Ending the blockade
After months of waste and no clear progress on its primary objective, support for the blockade of Pantano began to wane. Seeing an opportunity, the Rebel Alliance enlisted the Cantina Turner to perform covert operations to complete the kamikaze ship the Taunagi.
