Character Sheet

Mudrom "the Galactic Trash Man" Grugg, colloquially known as just the "Trash Man," is a galactic waste management and salvage magnate, known for his colorful personality and vibrant social life. He's also a high-profile smuggler and all-around scumbag, regularly wanted by authorities, though he always seems to find a way to elude Imperial justice with the right combination of technicalities and bribery.

His diverse legitimate enterprises form an umbrella corporation headquartered on Corellia, through which he launders credits, but he usually conducts both his legal and illegal business from the flagship of his salvage fleet, the Warthog. Within his criminal empire he's the brains behind the operation, aided by Dennis (the looks), Mac (the muscle), Charlie (the wildcard), and Dee (the useless chick).

TODO: I know that I never got around to changing Kiefer Sutherland's name, but I really, really need to rename The Gang if this game is going to keep what little credibility it has left.

History

For as long as Mudrom Grugg could remember, he wanted to be a gangster. During the law enforcement vacuum that was the Clone Wars, Mudrom and other scoundrels had their run of the Outer Rim, carving out criminal enterprises anywhere the Hutts didn't already control. When the Empire rose to power, Mudrom, like Michael Corleone before him, he used those ill-gotten gains to start new, legitimate businesses, but unlike the Godfather, he continued to fund both his legitimate and illegitimate businesses, growing richer, more diversified, and more untouchable as time went on.

His legitimate salvage and waste management businesses are regularly used as a cover for smuggling and dealing spice, and his massive civilian fleet warrants equally-massive spending on security, resulting in squadrons of fighters intended to defend his capital ships and freighters pulling double duty as strike teams to wipe out potential rivals.

Recent developments

The Empire's obsession with destroying the Rebel Alliance has brought Outer Rim crime back to its Clone Wars glory days, but this time the Trash Man isn't a hotshot young upstart looking to prove himself, he's a boss those kids will be coming for. He's determined to make as much money as possible and surround himself with as many people he can trust, which due to some unfortunate lapse in judgement, might include the inevitable betrayal that is the Cantina Turner.

The vile gangster Tuuba the Hutt has his wormlike eyes on the Trash Man's fleet, making sequential offers of partnership, sponsorship, and a buyout. The Trash Man has rejected them all, which has angered the crime lord, so Mudrom has been tightening security for Tuuba's inevitable power play.

Personality

The Galactic Trash Man lives a life of excess, throwing lavish parties all across the galaxy. He's as slimy as Jabba the Hutt, as ruthless as Darth Vader, but with all the sexual charisma of Lando Calrissian, despite looking like a wild boar married a manatee.

Behind the scenes

The Trash Man and the warthog motif are references to Danny DeVito's character Frank Reynolds on It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, an unintentional but impossible-to-escape continued inspiration and overarching theme for the campaign, with gameplay we've repeatedly described as "It's Always Sunny in a Galaxy Far, Far Away".

The character was originally named "Wothag Murd" which was just gibberish borne of "Warthog Man/Dude" the way famed Chevin "Ephant Mon" was clearly "Elephant Man" in some early draft. When that looked and felt too much like "warthog," which is the name of his ship, I corrupted it to "Mudrom Grugg" just to make my life a little easier.

The "Galactic Trash Man" persona is based loosely on flamboyant mafiosi like Al Capone and John Gotti, with a little bit of Better Call Saul sprinkled in.
