Stonefang Pass

Stonefang Pass is a 30-mile tunnel that passes beneath Mount Stonefang in the Eastern Storm Horns. It was built by giants, but claimed by dwarves in one of their great battles fought long ago. Following treachery and a disputed succession, Stonefang Pass was abandoned following a period of civil war and sealed with a massive stone door to serve as a literal barrier to represent the figurative divide and keep the two warring dwarven factions apart forever.

Though it was expressly forbidden to enter Stonefang pass because of the perilous terrain and wandering monsters, goliath children occasionally played in the great tunnel, never able to pass the great stone door. Particularly bad for this were the brothers Risar and Bolthor, who explored more of the cave than any of their generation in a series of escalating dares.

When Red Hand goblins invaded Rimespire in 1385 DR, the Blessed Brotherhood of the Glorious Sun and the goliath healer Surina led the surviving women, children, and elderly goliath here to seek refuge from the goblin horde.
