Tessarin "Longtresses" Alaurun is the witty and beautiful First Speaker of the council and ruler of the beleaguered town of Nesmé. Among other things, she is renowned for her collection of magic items.
The First Speaker of the Council, the wizard Tessarin, was voted into power after the fall of the previous government, which was dominated by clerics of Waukeen promoting trade and growth. Tessarin has become the de facto permanent ruler of her ever-shrinking home. Once only somewhat lawless, Nesmé has now become a fortress under siege, with every inhabitant armed and all folk taking turns manning the walls or heading out to escort trade-barges coming to the broken bridge over the Surbrin. Under Tessarin's leadership, she turned Nesmé into a magocracy and eventually took Jygil Zelnathra (former First Speaker and cleric of Waukeen) as her apprentice in the ways of The Art. She now has plans for Nesmé to join the Lords' Alliance.
In 1374 DR, the Zhentarim kidnapped Tessarin and Nesmé was nearly consumed in civil war, but she was recovered by the Silver Company. Though she was quite enamored with Paron Andris as he plied his charm, their respective duties kept them apart.
